I don't know about the technical details but the actual "look" is what I've been after in photography for a while now. The Kodak 250D/500T look is THE one that I've been going for. I'd love to see those 5219 scans if you have them. Why do you think it is that, when emulating film, there is a perceived color to the grain (I like to look at the gray patches on colorcharts to see)? Also, I downloaded a studio scene from DPreview and when i opened it in the Dehancer demo, I got this THIS as a result. Second, in images like THIS where the grain might not be "be" colored, it certainly appears to be colored. The closest, and this is kind of a pain, that I've been able to come was using TIFF files in Resolve with film emulation but that gets pretty ridiculous fast. Photoshop or plugins (like Dehancer) can fill in those gaps but allowing us to have access to the full raw image would be ideal. I guess the limited capabilities of Lightroom and Capture One leave a lot to be desired. Everything that I've seen so far has been a relatively cheap imitation and at best can be considered "film-ish". One of the real areas missing from the market is accurate film emulation for photographers. I wonder if the Lightroom stuff is simply not accurate enough and I don't think Lightroom has the concept of being scene referred even though internally it's probably Wrightįirst, let me say I really do appreciate you responding and showing me these things. Ideally Adobe need to introduce the concept of neg stocks and print stocks and then build in halation and so on - otherwise it's not going to work on mobile and that's a shame. Which is much closer to what I think you are looking for? But that pipeline doesn't really seem to be doable in Lightroom and certainly not in a cross platform way. ![]() Whereas in Resolve I am finding myself gravitating towards picking a suitable Kodak neg (250D/T and so on) and then using the usual Kodak print stock and then grading under that. But at night it would be a different stock. I am fond of warm skin and dark blue skies - so a combination of G200 with blues that are pulled down and some grain I find pleasing. So in Lightroom I find myself testing the profiles according to my scene and what I want. It ought to be at the end but I don't think that's the case. And in LR I'm not sure at which part of the processing pipeline the look is added. But to be honest I find it works in some cases and not others.
